About Portia:

Whether you are in pain or looking for stress relief, working in an office or running a marathon, Portia tailors each of her treatments to meet your needs.

Portia offers massage treatments at the right pressure for you. Offering both deep tissue and sports massage she can work as light as a feather or as hard as you can handle.

Portia feels that the treatment should not only treat the initial pain but must find the underlying cause of injury, which will help you to understand your body and keep you free from aches and pain for a long time.

Training

Portia qualified at the University of Northampton where she gained her BSc Honours Degree in Sports Therapy, during this period Portia was privileged to be taught by Sports Massage Therapy expert Mr Tim Paine, a well-known Sports Therapist and Lecturer.

Experience

Portia has developed a wide breadth of experience working with clients of very differing needs. She provides deep tissue, sports massage and rehabilitation programmes for fire fighters at her local fire station, recreational and competitive cyclists, Professional Footballers at League 2 club, Crawley FC and has gained valuable neurological experience looking after patients suffering with Multiple Sclerosis delivering valuable massage treatments to them all.

Background

Portia has always been sporty from a young age where she competed to a highly competitive level in both Hockey and Athletics. During her time competing she had to overcome many injuries (common place in elite sport!) where she received deep tissue, sports massage and a rehabilitation programmes to help her to get back to full fitness.

When her career came to an end through injury, Portia was unable to compete to a high level so decided to focus on rehabilitation rather than competition. This inspired her to be on the other side of the treatment couch, study to become a Sports Therapist which she finds thoroughly enjoyable and highly rewarding.
